FAQ: How Do I Install Custom LJ Layouts?)

1. Go to this page and switch your theme to "Flexible Squares." I usually use "Icy Blue" as a base, but it probably won’t make a big difference which one you pick.

2. Go to the Customize CSS page and set the options this way: Use layout’s stylesheet(s): YES; Use layout’s stylesheet(s) when including custom external stylesheet: NO; Use external stylesheets: NO; Custom external stylesheet URL: LEAVE THIS BLANK.

3. Upload the layout’s images (if any) to PhotoBucket, ImageShack or your own domain and change the image links in the CSS to your new links. For instance, "Rose.jpg" might be replaced with something like "http://j49.PhotoBucket.com/albums/316/Rose.jpg" or something similar. Since many images are used more than once in the stylesheets, an easy way to do this is select whatever they’re called in the default css and auto-replace it with their new links. Most text editors can do this when you press CONTROL + R or CONTROL + H.

4. When you get to the text-area "Custom stylesheet", copy and paste the entire contents of the layout css into it and click “Save Changes” below the text-area.

5. If all has gone well, your page should now have the custom layout enable. View it and see!

Note: If you are installing a custom layout based on a theme other than "Flexible Squares," then follow the same steps but select the other theme in step #1.
